Meet, Learn, Play!

Our Meet, Learn, Play course is aimed at children starting Reception in September 2026. Our sessions mirror the Early Years Framework to help prepare your child for school by building their confidence whilst helping you as a parent to feel equipped and ready for this big step.

Course Highlights:

Starting school is a huge milestone for both you and your little person and we want to ensure you both feel prepared and confident before taking that step. Our Meet, Learn, Play course has been personally designed by Gemma, our Early Years Expert, with coverage stretching across the entire year prior to them starting Reception. Children will participate in a range of carefully designed and planned activities which will develop vital skills. Slowly building their confidence and independence, this course mirrors the seven main areas defined within the Early Years Framework, enabling your child to be more confident when exposed to such tasks.

Sessions throughout the course will be fun, relaxed and enjoyable for the child, allowing them to experience the expectations of a classroom setting, with their grown up, to ensure they are ready and excited to start school. In addition, adults will feel equipped with an understanding of what to expect: feeling confident and with a sound understanding of the Early Years Curriculum and knowledge of how to further support their child in their school journey.
Do I need to know what school my child is going to?
No matter where your child will be going to school, they will be following the same curriculum and our course is designed to support this.
You do not need to bring anything with you.
As experienced teachers, we understand the many anxieties children may feel. Having a parent with them at the session will allow them to familiarise themselves with the expectations of school in a safe and nurturing environment. We will also have a ‘safe space’ allocated for any children who are feeling overwhelmed without any pressure to join in. They may want to stay there and just watch for the first few sessions and that is absolutely fine!

This comprehensive course ensures a thorough and structured approach to covering the entire Early Years Curriculum, providing a solid foundation for children to develop and progress throughout the year. By allowing children to work at their own pace, we are catering to their individual needs. By attending the whole year, they will build a strong foundation for future learning. However, children can attend on a termly basis, with the option to continue each term.

The Xmas Wreath Making Workshop at the Homegrown Learning Hub was a fun, lively, well organised and friendly evening, and would recommend their events to anyone and will certainly be doing it again.

Another fabulous couple of days for the girls at Holiday Camp! They come home brimming with excitement and happiness to tell us all about the experiments they’ve enjoyed, the people they’ve met and the high quality crafts they’ve made. Thank you so much for being such a great option when it comes to holiday childcare :-)

First time visiting the HGLH and it was lovely. Both the ladies who run the place were super friendly and happy to help with any questions I had. It was my baby first time doing sensory at 8 weeks old, although they was asleep I was made to feel welcome to take a seat and wait until baby woke so I could get a feel for the sessions and then join in when I could. I will look forward to returning in the future and getting involved in other sessions.

This is the first time trying the learning hub for my 4 year old son. I have been trying various holiday clubs for him in preparation for when he goes to school and I require holiday care. It is hard to come by holiday clubs for 4 year olds that are not all sports and bouncy castles so this was truly a magical find. He absolutely loved his time there and the next day asked me if he could go back (which is a first). I’m hoping in the future they may cater for 8am - 6pm for holiday clubs. : o)
